Snowy Tracks

Today in the snow, we went out side to search over hill and dale (well, more like over manure piles and under fences.) for any wildlife tracks that may have been made sometime last night. Our search was successful in the fact that we found both Coyote (Canis latrans) tracks and Eastern Cottontail Rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus) tracks in the snow. The approximate dimensions of both tracks are below.

Coyote Tracks

*Length: 3 inches

*Width: 1 inch

*Stride Length: 9 inches

Eastern Cottontail Rabbit Tracks

*Length: 9 inches

*Width:  2 inches

*Stride Length: 8 feet
